“The dignity of humanity demands that we listen to the voices of those who are suffering.”

— Desmond Tutu

Team Bader participated in Milwaukee’s 54th Juneteenth celebration which is an annual reminder of what is possible when people work together to change the course of history.

Milwaukee is known as the organizer of one of the nation’s longest-running Juneteenth celebrations. The celebration allows our elders to share stories about why the turn of events in Galveston, TX are significant and why young people should be inspired to take Desmond Tutu’s quote to heart. The celebration of freedom and independence continues with Canada Day on July 1st and the 4th of July in the United States. While each holiday celebrates different events, they remind us that we need to continue to listen for the next cause that will be led by courageous people.

Compassion and dignity are critical in light of recent events and we remain steadfast in our practice, especially when it is difficult to see movement. We continue to hear and see how our partners remain focused on seeing the world through the lens of positivity, compassion and dignity. Your ability to lift up another human being during difficult and challenging times offers hope.

The Foundation’s mission is to help people and honor the legacy of our founders. Klitsner is a family name that you may see and hear about when we share the story of how my father and mother built Aldrich Chemical from a Milwaukee Eastside garage into a successful global company. Bader Philanthropies exists today as a result of its success. It is with great sadness that we share that Jane Klitsner (OBM) passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Jane was the wife of Marvin Klitsner (OBM),who were both long-time friends of Helen Bader, Alfred Bader and Isabel Bader. She was also the mother of board member Francie Wolff and grandmother of board member Adina Shapiro.
