Since 2016, Bader Philanthropies has been planting its roots in the Harambee neighborhood, located on the northside of Milwaukee between North Avenue and Capitol Drive and Holton Street to Interstate 43. Our Harambee neighbors and community partners have shed a bright light on the neighborhood’s history and culture, as well as the challenges and opportunities before us. Neighborhood engagements present in many ways – attending neighborhood events such as Juneteenth Day; welcoming Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary school students back to school; and hosting “Chat with Bader” gatherings to meet our neighbors.

Our partners are committed to community building — drawing on the assets of our neighborhoods and citizen-led organizations. They are helping people find and purchase their first home; creating pride on city blocks through beautification projects; and supporting devoted leaders as they imagine ways to grow and sustain the work they have started. Our current Neighborhood Engagement strategies include:

  • Neighborhood Events
  • Neighborhood Improvements
  • Organizational Development
