Free family-friendly activities, concerts in the parks and other events are popping up all over Milwaukee this summer.

Concerts
Summer Concert Series at Rose Park
Adi Armour, New Orleans Beau and Jamiah Rogers and other live music acts will be playing at the summer concert series from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday until Aug. 31 at Clinton & Bernice Rose Park, 3045 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. The series’ theme is “celebrate culture of yesterday, today and tomorrow.” More information here.
Washington Park Wednesdays
Washington Park Wednesdays returns to bring music, arts and community from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Washington Park Bandshell, 4599 W. Lloyd St. In addition to the main live music performance, there will be a new second stage from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., along with stage management education, free meals for children provided by Milwaukee Center for Independence, family activities and other community resources. Music on the Beerline
Riverworks Development Corp. is bringing back Music on the Beerline as a three-month series, instead of a one-night event, for the sixth year. The free concerts, with a local vendor marketplace and food trucks, will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug.16 and Sept. 20 in the Beerline Plaza, 3350 N. Holton St. Featured artists will include DJ Bizzon, Cache, Love Peace & Soul and Extra Crispy Brass Band. More information here.
Havenwoods Summer Sounds Concert Series
The Havenwoods Summer Sounds Concert Series runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday nights through Aug. 15 at the Havenwoods Taproom & Beer Garden, 5840 N. 60th St. The event will feature kid-friendly activities and lineups that include Christopher’s Project, Tailspin, Soulfoot Mombits and more. Uptown Get Down
The Uptown Crossing Business Improvement District is hosting Uptown Get Down from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Uptown 56 Park, 5531 W. North Ave. Enjoy live music from Soul Patrol and food by The Corn Man. Bring your own chairs. More information here.
Community activities
Vibras de Verano
Join Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, or CSNI, for Vibras de Verano, a community-building series of leisure activities from noon to 3 p.m. every other Saturday, Aug. 3, Aug. 17 and Aug. 31 at CSNI’s building at 1636 W. National Ave. Each day has a different theme, with activities centering around the Olympics, moving your body and an end-of-summer party. The event is sponsored by Mitchell Street Arts and Latine Artists Directory MKE. More information here.
Milwaukee Recreation summer activities
Milwaukee Recreation offers summer programming for youths and adults. Free meals are available for kids, ages 6-17, at summer playground sites open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 16. Milwaukee Recreation also operates eight Twilight Centers for middle schoolers and high schoolers that provide programming and free play activities at various locations on weeknights until Aug. 15. For adults, the Summer Community Wellness offerings include yoga, yogilates, meditation and Zumba at various parks, in addition to other classes and activities. More information here.
POP-UP! Outreach Days and Amani United events
Amani residents can receive community resources and free food at POP-Up! Outreach Days from noon to 2 p.m. on July 23 at 2175 W. Center St., Aug. 13 at 27th and Burleigh streets and Aug. 25 at 25th and Hopkins streets. Amani United and Dominican Center are offering other events this summer, including the Amani Youth Council’s Fun Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Moody Park, 2201 W. Auer Ave. More information here.
Summer en La Plaza
The Milwaukee Harbor District BID 51 has awarded a total of $9,000 to different community members and organizations to host a family-friendly summer activity. Summer en La Plaza takes place on weekends through Aug. 17 at Harbor View Plaza, 600 E. Greenfield Ave. Upcoming events include: Hip Hop Chess Club and YMRJ in the Plaza with Your Move MKE on Aug. 3; Square Plaza Market and a Latin dance marathon with Salsabrositas MKE on Aug. 4; Milwaukee Public Museum/Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance on Aug.10; a plant workshop with Chelotzin Plant Services on Aug. 11; and plants and poetry on Aug. 17. Soul Roll MKE
Soul Roll MKE is a bike ride collaboration between Northwest Side Community Development Corp., Red Bike & Green and other community partners to promote healthy outcomes, safety and highlight spaces around the 30th Street Corridor. The Soul Roll master calendar includes regular rides for all ages and abilities, bike repair days that go until the month of August and bike giveaways. More information here.
